FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that I get about the recipes featured on Trini Eats:

WHERE DO YOU GET THE INSPIRATION FOR YOUR POSTS?

·          our rich history
·          friends and family
·          restaurants
·          magazines
·          seasonal produce
·          other blogs
·          my constant food cravings

My typical process for recipes is often something like this:

1.      See an idea that gets me excited – cookbook, friend’s lunch, or something on the menu at a restaurant.
2.      Look at the ingredient list, research the techniques used by others, or even consult with my food guru, my mom!

CAN YOU USE OTHER PEOPLES’ RECIPES ON YOUR BLOG?

With the many variations of Caribbean cooking, it would be ridiculous if I only featured my own stuff. To me, cooking is a universal activity that brings the world together…food is something to share; from ideas, cooking styles, ingredients and the tasting! So yes, other recipes will be featured in this blog. It’s going to be great!

CAN I USE YOUR PHOTO OR RECIPE ON MY WEBSITE OR BLOG?

Thanks for asking!

1.      Recipes –I would not advise of republishing the recipes without seeking consent from the original owner(s). If you have a specific inquiry about a recipe, please feel free to email me. Please remember to credit the original owner(s).
2.      Photos without recipes – Credit the photos with what is featured on my blog.

WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND IN FOOD?

I have no formal culinary training and no special expertise. I’m just a regular, hungry, self-taught Trini girl who likes to cook, eat, and share feel-good food.

DO YOU FOLLOW A PARTICULAR DIET?

I love food and so far, allergies have no part of my life. I’ll eat it if it tastes good!

WHY DIDN’T YOUR RECIPE WORK FOR ME?

If the recipes posted don’t work out to your liking, the best place to start is to post in the comment section. Let’s share ideas on how to make it work for you.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ALL YOUR FOOD?

My family loves food just as much as I do, so nothing goes to waste! Left overs are never wasted and in some instances, it’s even remade by adding a few different ingredients.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RECIPE?

To be quite honest, I love curry! It’s the perfect amount of spice!

HOW DO I START A FOOD BLOG?

Great question! There are several online resources that you can use to start your own blog. A simple search on Google and soon you’ll be on your way! Feel free to email me as well for tips and ideas for your blog.

DO YOU HAVE ANY BLOGGING ADVICE?

What really makes the best first impression is the photo op. Focus on the photo and ensure to feature a good quality recipe. I recommend trying the recipe at least twice so as to have the best chance to know what you are posting and discussing with others. Most importantly give it time. It took me some weeks before I got my ideas finalised and posted and a few more weeks before I noticed traffic increasing. Although my blog has only just started, there are so many ideas that one can use to promote their blog and lead to a greater online presence.

DO YOU WORK WITH BRANDS FOR SPONSORED POSTS AND CAMPAIGNS?

Definitely! I am more than happy to promote brands and products that I like on Trini Eats. If you are a brand looking for partnership, you can send me an email and we can discuss further.

ARE YOU ON SOCIAL MEDIA?

Not just yet. I’m focusing on building the blog and soon I’ll be creating a page on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. In the meantime, you can find me on Trini Eats!

CAN I EMAIL YOU?

Sure you can! My email address is mandi.mohd2302@gmail.com
